Kowloon (including the New Territories), located opposite Hong Kong island, is the southern-most peninsula that shares its border with Mainland China. It is well connected by MTR, ferry and bus to both Hong Kong and the Mainland.
More spacious than Hong Kong island, it is well-known for shopping areas such as Tsim Sha Tsui which boasts the famous Peninsula Hotel, the newly renovated 1881 Heritage site and Nathan Road, and the Mongkok area which is famous for its crowded streets and various markets. There are a number of international kindergartens, primary and secondary schools located in Kowloon. Towards the New Territories are more spacious villages and towns, many of which have been recently revitalised with new housing and shopping developments, such as Sha Tin and Hang Hau.
