Getting to, from and around
Public transport
Lantau is well connected with a selection of inter-island ferries and cross-Lantau buses and taxis.
Ferries travel to Discovery Bay, Cheung Chau, Peng Chau, Chi Ma Wan and Hong Kong; the ferry to Central runs from 3.40am-11.30pm providing near 24-hr sailings which includes a fast ferry service that takes only 30 minutes. [LINK]
Relying on the ferry to commute you can be more disciplined about how many hours you spend at work! In the morning, enjoy reading the paper; in the evening, unwind – so that when you’re home, you’re really home (and not still in the office).
Cars
If you prefer the convenience and independence of having your own car, access to Lantau has never been better. Tung Chung Road connects north and south, and is now open 24 hours, meaning that the whole of Lantau is connected to Kowloon by road, at all times of the day.
